iXsystems has announced the general availability of TrueNAS 12.0-BETA2. The company has reported over 175 bugs fixes for the newest version, which means we are a lot closer to seeing the full TrueNAS 12.0-Release version. TrueNAS CORE is the successor to FreeNAS, and is one of the three versions of TrueNAS Open Storage software comprised of TrueNAS CORE, TrueNAS Enterprise, and TrueNAS SCALE. Among the improvements in the newest release are major changes to ZFS filesystem, as it brings all the features of ZFS on Linux (ZoL) to the upcoming OpenZFS 2.0 release. Further major changes include: ZFS Native Crypto – Per dataset encryption and support for encrypted replication to untrusted targets. Kris Moore from iXsystems was recently at the StorageReview premises as well to discuss and live demo the new features of TrueNAS CORE version 12.0. |
